Lebanon’s Education Minister, Rima Karami, announced in a press conference today that the official high school exams (Baccalaureate) will begin on July 9 and continue for five days. To prepare, the academic year will be extended until June 13.
Curriculum Adjustments to Support Students
Minister Karami clarified that the Ministry of Education will reduce certain subjects based on student needs. She noted that the curriculum had already been shortened earlier in the year. The upcoming exams will be designed to be supportive and stress-free, giving students enough time to answer without pressure or overly difficult questions.
No Elective Subjects, But Easier Approach
Karami confirmed that there will be no elective exam subjects, but students should not worry, questions will be straightforward and manageable. The goal is to make the exams fair and accessible to all.
In her speech, the Minister expressed solidarity with students, parents, and teachers, recognizing the anxiety and stress many are feeling. She acknowledged the tough conditions the country has gone through and emphasized that their concerns are valid and understood.
