Boulos’ High-Level Appointment
Politico reported that Lebanese-American businessman Massad Boulos, father-in-law of Tiffany Trump and a senior adviser on Middle East and Africa policy, has been sidelined by the new Trump administration despite his role.
The Aborted Africa Mission
According to a detailed report by Politico, Boulos arrived at Joint Base Andrews in early April, ready to embark on his first official diplomatic trip to Africa. However, the journey never began. Boulos and his team were left waiting for hours, as the U.S. military aircraft meant to take them did not depart. Later that day, Boulos received a phone call from Susie Wiles, Trump’s Chief of Staff, informing him that he was not authorized to use a government plane. She instructed him to cancel the Angola leg of his visit and instead proceed via commercial flight to the next destination the following day.
Signs of Internal Tensions
The incident is being viewed as a clear sign of internal tensions within the Trump circle. Despite Boulos’ close family ties to Trump, his authority and privileges appear to be in question. The move reflects possible power struggles and a shift in influence, even among Trump’s extended inner circle.
While Boulos remains officially in his advisory role, this public sidelining raises questions about his future in U.S. policy-making, especially in such critical regions. Whether this is a temporary oversight or part of a larger political move remains to be seen.
