South Korean prosecutors have charged former President Yoon Suk Yeol with “aiding the enemy” for allegedly ordering the deployment of military drones into North Korean territory last year, according to reports from Russia Today.
The investigation team, led by Special Counsel Cho Eun-suk, also accused Yoon of abusing his authority by allegedly attempting to provoke a retaliatory response from Pyongyang, an act that could have been used as a pretext to declare martial law in December.

Back in July, South Korea’s Ministry of Defense announced the suspension of the head of the Drone Operations Command over suspicions of illegally sending military drones across the border in 2024.
Investigators now suspect that Yoon personally ordered the drone operation in October last year, bypassing both the Ministry of Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in an effort to provoke a military escalation with North Korea that could justify imposing martial law.
