The Lebanese Press Syndicate announced its decision to integrate online news publications and electronic media platforms under its umbrella, aiming to prevent identity misuse, reduce the existing chaos in journalistic work, and ensure adherence to responsible media freedom in accordance with the Media Law and the syndicate’s internal regulations.
In its statement, the Syndicate invited digital news outlets and online platforms to formally register through the Lebanese Press Syndicate, provided they meet the following conditions:
- Submission of the owner’s name and ID, with proof of holding a university degree or equivalent.
- The name and logo of the publication.
- A clear and verifiable address for the publication’s headquarters or office.
- A list of all staff members working for the outlet.
- Appointment of a managing director, authorized by the owner, who must be registered with the Syndicate’s official list of journalists.
- Appointment of an editor-in-chief, who must also be a registered member of the Syndicate, or the publication’s owner.
- A comprehensive list of the outlet’s domain name, hosting details, and social media accounts.
- Recognition by at least ten print newspapers that regularly use the site’s news content.
- Any platform that does not register with the Syndicate while meeting these requirements will be considered unauthorized.
- Applications will be accepted on Mondays and Wednesdays between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
- The registration fee has been set at 25 million Lebanese pounds.
The initiative marks a significant step toward organizing Lebanon’s fast-growing digital media sector, fostering professionalism, and protecting the credibility of legitimate online news sources.
