Qatar Reaffirms Support for Lebanon

Price of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Doha, highlighting a renewed phase in Lebanese-Qatari relations. The Emir emphasized that Qatar is committed to seeing a stable and prosperous Lebanon, pledging support across crucial sectors—from electricity and energy to the Lebanese Armed Forces.

The high-level discussions come at a time when Lebanon is grappling with a severe economic collapse, institutional paralysis, and a crumbling infrastructure especially in power and public services.

The talks began with a broad meeting at the Amiri Diwan, followed by a private one-on-one session and concluded with an official lunch. The Emir described the visit as a “historic and vital step” toward deepening bilateral cooperation.

He stated:

“What matters most to us is seeing a stable Lebanon. The current circumstances, both regionally and domestically, offer an opportunity to achieve this goal, We are prepared to support Lebanon with its electricity and energy needs, and in any other area requiring aid. Supporting the Lebanese Army remains a priority, as it is the institution that guarantees national stability,” the prince added

President Aoun thanked the Emir for Qatar’s ongoing support and highlighted the Lebanese Army’s efforts in South Lebanon to implement UN Resolution 1701. He stressed, however, that continued Israeli violations and occupation hinder full army deployment.

The two leaders also agreed on the importance of civil peace and emphasized the need to implement the Lebanese President’s oath speech, especially regarding the exclusive control of arms by the state.
