Early Saturday, Israel conducted targeted strikes against Iranian military installations as retaliation for Tehran’s earlier ballistic missile attack this month. According to an Israeli military source, the strikes focused on military facilities and avoided energy infrastructure.
Iran has asserted its right to self-defense following the attack, although Iranian media seems to be minimizing the impact of the strikes, citing minor damages at military locations across three provinces. The military reported that two soldiers lost their lives.
A high-ranking official from the US administration stated that President Joe Biden advised Israel to shape its assault on Iran to prevent additional escalation. Global leaders have called on both parties to steer clear of triggering a broader regional conflict.
In the meantime, the health ministry in Gaza reports that Israeli troops have apprehended male staff members during a raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital in the northern part of the territory. The UN human rights chief has accused Israel of bombarding the entire population, imposing a siege, and exposing them to the risk of starvation.
