Thousands of Egyptian fans gathered outside New Alamein International Airport on Friday to welcome home the national football team following its landmark performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, transforming the airport surroundings into a festive scene of celebration.
Although Egypt’s journey ended in the Round of 16 with a 3-2 defeat to reigning champions Argentina, the team earned widespread praise for its spirited display and competitive performance against one of the tournament’s favorites.

Supporters arrived at the airport from the early hours of the morning, waving Egyptian flags and chanting patriotic songs to honor a squad that made history by reaching the World Cup knockout stage for the first time.
A specially prepared open-top bus carried the players through cheering crowds, while fans held up banners and photographs of the squad and coaching staff in recognition of their achievements.
