Lebanon and Syria Move Toward Easing Travel Restrictions to Boost Tourism

Tourism Minister Laura Lahoud announced plans to facilitate travel and visits between Lebanon and Syria, describing her visit to Damascus as a preliminary step toward strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ tourism sectors.

Speaking at the Masnaa border crossing while heading to Damascus to participate in the “Syria Travel” forum, Lahoud said the visit aims to ease movement between Lebanese and Syrian citizens and pave the way for further meetings with representatives of the tourism industry.

She also revealed that Lebanon has amended the entry requirements for Syrian nationals based on specific criteria, introducing measures expected to help stimulate tourism between the two countries.

Lahoud added that the Syrian side is also working on adjustments to its procedures to ensure compatibility with the measures adopted by Lebanon, in a move aimed at facilitating cross-border travel and enhancing tourism cooperation.
