Justice Achieved After Decades

During the annual commemoration of Kamal Jumblatt’s assassination, Walid Jumblatt, former leader of the Progressive Socialist Party (PSP), declared that justice had finally been served. He announced the end of an era of oppression and tyranny, celebrating the liberation of the Syrian people. He also acknowledged the new leadership under President Ahmed al-Sharaa and confirmed the arrest of those responsible for his father’s assassination.

Closing a Chapter

Jumblatt stated, “On behalf of myself, my family, and the PSP, I declare this tradition closed, as justice—though delayed—has been served.” He emphasized that both the PSP and the town of Moukhtara were now entering a new chapter of resilience and determination. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its core values, focusing on meaningful goals rather than personal interests.

A Call to the Druze Community

Addressing Lebanon’s Druze community, Jumblatt urged them to preserve their Arab identity and continue opposing Israel’s occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights. He also appealed to the Druze in Syria to protect their Islamic heritage and resist being used for political purposes.

Kamal Jumblatt’s Legacy

Jumblatt reminded everyone that Kamal Jumblatt was martyred because he stood against sectarian divisions and rejected the idea of a Druze state. He highlighted his father’s unwavering commitment to unity and his opposition to plans that sought to divide people by religion.
