Tesla Sales Slump 2025

What’s Happening?

Tesla is facing a big problem in Germany and across Europe. In February 2025, Tesla’s car sales in Germany fell by 76% compared to the same month last year. This is much worse than the 6.4% drop in Germany’s overall car market.

The situation is not just in Germany. In January, Tesla’s total car sales in Europe went down by 45%. For example, sales in France fell by 63%, while in the UK, they dropped by 12%.

Why Are Sales Dropping?

Elon Musk’s Politics – Some people are unhappy with Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, because of his political opinions. He has supported far-right parties in Europe, including Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD). Many customers who care about the environment and social issues are now choosing not to buy Tesla cars.

More Competition – Other car companies are making better electric cars. Now, customers have more options, and some are picking other brands over Tesla. One key player is Huawei, whose Autonomous Driving Solution (ADS) has gained popularity. Unlike Tesla, Huawei does not manufacture cars but sells its system to automakers worldwide, similar to how Windows operates on different PCs. This approach has allowed Huawei to expand rapidly, even attracting automakers in Europe and the U.S.

Older Car Models – Tesla has not updated some of its car models, like the Model Y, in a long time. Some people are waiting for new versions before buying a Tesla.

Because of these problems, Tesla’s stock price has also fallen. Investors are worried about the company’s future in Europe. If Tesla does not fix these issues, it could continue to lose sales to other carmakers.

For Tesla to recover, the company may need to update its cars, change its business strategy, and repair its public image. Will Tesla be able to fix these problems? Only time will tell.
