Trained In Lebanon: 16 Arrested in Jordan Sabotage Attempt

The Jordanian government later revealed that some of the individuals involved in the sabotage efforts had received specialized training in Lebanon. This raised concerns about external influence and regional entanglements in domestic security threats.

16 individuals were arrested in connection with the plans

These plots had been under careful surveillance since 2021. The foiled operations included manufacturing rockets using locally sourced and imported components, possessing explosives and firearms, concealing a ready-to-launch missile, and developing a project to build drones. The network was also involved in recruiting and training operatives within Jordan, while sending some abroad for further training. The intelligence indicated the existence of an organized effort with both domestic and international dimensions.

Legal Action and Broader Context

All cases have been referred to the State Security Court for legal proceedings. Jordan has repeatedly intercepted attempts to smuggle weapons and drugs across its northern border, often blaming Iran-backed militias operating in southern Syria. Despite heavy security measures, some shipments have managed to slip through undetected.
