Hariri Launches AI Investment Firm in Abu Dhabi
Former Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri is making a comeback not to politics, but in the tech world. At the end of May, he launched a new company in Abu Dhabi called Genesis, focusing on artificial intelligence investments, according to Bloomberg.
Focus on Global Tech and AI Growth
Sources say the company aims to invest in international technology, especially AI. While no official statements were made by Hariri’s team, the financial media confirmed that his firm is designed to align with Abu Dhabi’s growing ambitions in the AI sector.
The firm is officially registered as Genesis SPV Ltd under the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) the UAE’s international financial hub. Hariri is listed as the sole shareholder. Genesis is expected to work in parallel with Abu Dhabi’s top AI players like G42 and MGX, both of which are key parts of the UAE’s strategy to become a global leader in artificial intelligence.
A Shift Away from Lebanese Politics
This development comes over three years after Hariri and his party, the Future Movement, stepped away from Lebanon’s political scene in January 2022. Though Hariri promised a political return during his speech in February 2025, he did not take part in the May 2025 municipal elections. Since 2022, Hariri has been based in Abu Dhabi, where he is reported to be close to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a powerful figure in the UAE and half-brother of the president. Sheikh Tahnoon heads a massive $1.5 trillion business empire.
Online users noted that many of Hariri’s team, including his security personnel, have recently been let go. Some believe this marks a final exit from Lebanese politics. But sources close to his party say the staff cuts were for budget reasons only, with around 50 domestic workers let go in what was described as a “routine” decision.
