President Aoun informs Iran: Lebanon will not serve as a battleground for external conflicts 2025

“We Are Tired of Others’ Wars”

President Joseph Aoun told an Iranian delegation on Sunday that Lebanon is “tired” of external conflicts happening on its land. During his meeting with the Iranian delegation visiting Lebanon to participate in the funeral, led by Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, President Joseph Aoun said, “Lebanon is tired of others’ wars, and the unity of the Lebanese is the best way to face any loss or aggression.” Aoun added, “Lebanon has paid a high price for the Palestinian cause and supports the outcome of the recent Riyadh summit regarding the two-state solution.

The high-level delegation was in Beirut for the funeral of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the slain leader of Tehran-backed Hezbollah which fought a war with Israel last year that ended in a November truce.

Aoun said, “Lebanon is tired of the wars of others on its land,” according to a statement from the new president, who is a former army chief and seen as close to the West.

He added, “Countries should not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.”

Aoun said Lebanon wanted “the best relations with Tehran, for the benefit of both countries and peoples.”

During their meeting, Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf invited Aoun to visit Iran, according to the Lebanese statement.

The delegation arrived in Beirut despite regular flights between the two countries being suspended.
