Ceasefire Mechanism Committee Convenes to Discuss Full Implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701
Today, the Ceasefire Mechanism Committee convened for the sixth time in Naqoura. The meeting was hosted by UNIFIL under the chairmanship of the United States, with France, the Lebanese Army, and the Israeli Defense Forces in attendance.
The participants discussed ways to move forward with the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701, the comprehensive execution of the ceasefire agreement reached on November 26, 2024, and the next steps to address outstanding issues between Israel and Lebanon.
Following the meeting, and at the request of the United States, Israel returned five Lebanese citizens who had been in its custody to Lebanon. The committee will continue to hold regular meetings to ensure the complete implementation of the ceasefire.
